Huang Cheng Lao Ma serves Qintai hotpot in an upscale atmosphere, and it's a pleasant surprise that a hotpot restaurant made it to the Beijing Best Restaurant list. The comfortable interior in the multi-storey restaurant and the non-stop flow of customers is served by a fast-moving service staff. Sichuan cuisine is super spicy by default, and the central plot here is the hotpot broth which comes in two versions - spicy & killer-spicy. Order the split hotpot and fill with both versions of the hotpot broth so that you don't leave the restaurant with your tongue spiced-out. Toss in "live" prawns, vegetables, pork, chicken and other aromatic ingredients to build on the broth. The must-have ingredient is the Lao Ma's beef which is seasoned overnight and continues to remain tender after cooking in the broth.
